Date set to determine if David Kobak will stand trial for murder of roommate

EUREKA – A preliminary hearing date has been set for the 75-year-old man accused of killing his roommate.
Police arrested David Alan Kobak after he called them to his Eureka residence on August 25. Officers found his roommate, 58-year-old Frederick William Loftus dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Kobak pled not guilty to murder at arraignment and denied a special allegation that he used a rifle to commit the crime.
He did not appear in court for Thursday’s intervention hearing. He will be in court on Monday when a judge will determine if there is enough evidence to hold him for trial.
Kobak remains in jail on $2 million dollars bail.
