Eureka City Council approves syringe management ordinance

EUREKA., CA (KIEM) this evening, the Eureka City Council agreed to move forward with a new syringe management ordinance.

The topic of syringe litter lasted over an hour. City manager Greg Sparks spoke to the room on the how the new ordinance will provide data for accountability, in an effort to lead to educated regulation.

The community opinion of the new ordinance could have been split in half. The majority of one side feeling helpless in the fact that not enough regulation is in place, while the other side sharing that not everyone who comes for needles is misusing them and that they don’t want to stop helping those in need.
