Touch down! A direct flight from Los Angeles hits the landing strip of the Arcata Airport for the first time in years, just before 10 this morning.

Executive Director of Redwood Region Economic Development Commission, Gregg Foster, believes that this is opening up the doors to a whole new crowd of travelers who will now have direct access to the area, which will then bring in more tourism dollars.

Flights run about $400 round trip, but vary depending on date and time of travel. For now, United is the only airline providing these direct flights.
