Hundreds gather in funeral procession for fallen Carr Fire firefighter

CHICO, Calif. (KIEM) – The memorial service was held Friday for a firefighter who died while en route to fight the Carr Fire.

Andrew Brake died in a traffic accident on his way to the Carr Fire last week.

Hundreds of firefighters lined the streets for the procession which started at Newton Bracewell Cemetery in Chico, and ended at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Brake started his career as a firefighter in Bridgeville.

Family and friends remember Brake as a loving and easy going man who enjoyed the outdoors.

He is described as a hardworking dad with a great sense of humor.

His family says being a part of Cal Fire was his dream and he “made his family and friends know they were loved even without saying a word.”
