“Green Hill Fire” grows to 10 acres near Blue Lake

BLUE LAKE, Ca. (KIEM) – A vegetation fire, made up of multiple brush fires, has taken on a total of about ten acres near Blue Lake, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Just after 4:00PM on Monday, dispatchers alerted emergency responders to “multiple fires” burning along Highway 299, just north of the Blue Lake off-ramp. They requested a search of a possible vehicle causing sparks, however, the exact cause is still undetermined.

Humboldt area Cal Fire, CHP, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Arcata Volunteer Fire Department, and Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Departments are all on scene. Highway 299 was briefly closed as firefighters arrived.
