Signboard fire burns 53 acres near Hoopa, 15% contained

HOOPA, Ca. (KIEM) – Crews continue to make progress on the 53 acre Singnboard Fire. burning in steep terrain near Hoopa.

Dozer lines have been completed along the Tish Tang Road ridge. According to firefighters, fog and smoke have made it difficult to fight the fire by air.

The fire started Thursday, as the result of an escaped prescribed burn. It was decalred a wildfire on Tuesday, and is visible north of Willow Creek on State Route 96.

No structures have been lost, and the fire is 15% contained.
