5,600 square foot marbled murrelet mural completed in Arcata

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) A 5,600 square foot marbled murrelet mural has been started and completed in the City of Arcata all efforts of Housing Humboldt, the City of Arcata and local artist Lucas Thornton.

The signature Marsh District mural created by Thornton took nearly $40,000 dollars to complete. The Center for Biological Diversity, The Footprint Foundation and the City of Arcata have each pledged $10,000 towards Thornton’s signature mural, while the rest of the community pitched in for the remaining of the cost. Donors who have contributed over $500 will also be listed on the building.

The marbled murrelet mural stands facing the side of the Arcata Bay Crossing Building. Arcata Bay Crossing is a project of Housing Humboldt and the City of Arcata and houses 32 formerly homeless people.
