United Bikers of Northern California wakes up Plaza for Humboldt County Toy Run

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Hundreds of motorcycles along with several different biker groups took to the plaza Sunday afternoon for this year’s UBNC Humboldt-County Toy Run, a standing tradition for over 40 years.

Each year, members of the United Bikers of Northern California plan a toy run to raise toys and money for children of the county.

Sunday, community members were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or a $10 donation as a contribution.

At 12pm bikers cranked up there engines and were off, making their way to Moose Lounge in Eureka for the toy run reception where all toys and donations were gathered and collected.

Jon Sandoval, Vice President of United Bikers said it feels good to do something great for the youth despite what some people may think about bikers, “It’s just about giving back to our kids in need,” said Sandoval. “As bikers, we get a different look at us, people see bikers in leather and tattoos and beards, but we’re really just big-hearted people that take care of people in need. Anywhere from the vets, to our homeless, to the elderly but today it’s all about the kids.”

All toys will be taken to the Eureka Rescue Mission for distribution.
