EPD involved in chase after suspect steals car

EUREKA (KIEM)- One North Coast resident learned the hard way why you should never leave your vehicle with the engine running.

Just before six Tuesday evening, the female victim was inside a Eureka business on the 1500 block of Fifth Street when a man got into the vehicle.

The victim ran out and jumped on the hood of the Subaru Outback. As the suspect took off, the victim fell off the vehicle.

EPD officers were then involved in a high speed chase after the car was spotted on highway 101 near airport road. The pursuit was called off after speeds reached over 90 miles an hour.

The car was located Wednesday morning in Arcata.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s with dark hair, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with black and red lettering.
