Highway 101 open to one-way controlled traffic near Leggett after tanker truck crashes

LEGGETT (KIEM)- Highway 101 in northern Mendocino was closed for most of the day after a tanker truck crashed sending gas onto the roadway.

It happened just after six Tuesday morning north of Leggett. The truck was heading northbound and failed to make a left turn and struck the Jitney Gulch Bridge. The truck overturned spilling fuel onto the road and shoulder.

Mendocino County Environmental Health along with other emergency personnel were called to the scene.

The driver, 62 year-old Archie Campbell of Willits, was taken to Jerold Phelps hospital in Garberville with minor injuries.

The section of roadway was re-opened to one-way controlled traffic at around 5 Tuesday evening.
