EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – No amount of rain could stop from all across the North Coast in showcasing their abilities.

On a rainy Saturday morning, over a hundred students came to College of the Redwoods, all to test their knowledge and compete at AG Field Day.

Students part of the Future Farmers of America or FFA competed in events such as wood shop, welding, machinery, and forestry.

Forty-three teams from different high schools all over the North Coast came to compete. The competition had two parts, a written exam and a technical test.

Afterwards, teachers then evaluated their work. But it wasn’t about winning or losing. It was about what this competition did for them, which was to help them build important skills that puts them one step ahead.

At the end of the event, students gathered for an awards ceremony.

Today’s event marks the unofficial kick off to the FFA Field Day Season.
