Coroner’s office confirms two drug-related deaths

ccording to the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office, there were two overdose deaths last month due to fentanyl.

Both individuals were using heroin which was laced with the potent opioid. Fentanyl is a drug that can be used in the treatment of severe pain. It’s unknown if the individuals were are aware of the presence of the fentanyl, but these are the first fentanyl drug-related deaths recorded by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office in several years.

Representatives with the coroner’s office say, to lower the chance of prescription drug abuse drop off your unwanted prescription medications at certified disposal areas.
