Rep. Jared Huffman introduces new wilderness preservation bill

Representative Jared Huffman and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, have introduced a new bill aimed to restore, support, and protect Northwest California public lands and rivers.

It’s called the Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act. The measure would conserve approximately over 200,000 acres of wilderness, designate over 300 miles of new rivers, and create a restoration area of more than 700,000 acres. That’s not all, there are many more wilderness conscious actions being proposed.

The authors of the bill claim the purpose of this legislation is to enhance outdoor recreation, help safeguard communities from wildfires, protect wildlife and boost the regional tourist and recreation economy.
