HCSO: Vehicle sale goes wrong with shots fired in Southern Humboldt

BENBOW, CA (KIEM)- A vehicle transaction goes wrong in southern Humboldt with reported shots fired. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office responded to the 400 block of Lake Benbow Drive at around 9 Tuesday night.

Deputies learned that four victims had arranged to meet with a woman to complete a vehicle transaction. Shortly after two other men arrived in a Toyota Tacoma, there was a disagreement between the two parties and the truck left.

According to authorities, the truck then returned and struck the victims vehicle pushing it off the roadway. A male suspect then got out of the truck and allegedly fired several shots at the victims vehicle. The suspect then tried to get into the vehicle but was unsuccessful and fled the scene.

The single cab truck is silver in color and has a CB antenna on the roof. The other two suspects are believed to be associated with a dark colored, older model Honda vehicle that resembles a Honda Element or Nisan Cube.

The three victims were uninjured. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
