Explosive device destroyed in Redway

REDWAY, Ca (KIEM)-An explosive device was destroyed after it was located in southern Humboldt.

Just after 11am Sunday, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office responded to a river bar near Azalea Road in lower Redway. Deputies located what appeared to be an oxygen tank that contained explosive material with a fuse wire.

The explosive ordnance disposal team later arrived and destroyed the device

The sheriff’s office said it did not appear the device was intentionally placed at the location and likely washed ashore downriver.
