APD Celebrates 125th year with cake, community, and conversation

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Wednesday marked the 125^th year of the Arcata Police Department.

In celebratory fashion, the department acknowledged its success with cake, community, and conversation.

The department, family, and friends filled the center of the Arcata Plaza to reminisce on past years.

Redwood News spoke to Arcata’s Officer Evan Beechel who said he is from Arcata, and to be a part of a department that has such longevity is amazing. Beechel said it’s opportunities like this he enjoys because it’s a time to bond with the badge.

“More public events. Us being on foot patrol, being open to the public, being approachable,” said Beechel. “It feels great. It’s awesome. I feel lucky and I feel honored to be a part of such a great department.”

Beechel said he looks forward to the department reaching its 126^th year.
