Speed Limit on Greenwood Road in Blue Lake now 15 MPH

BLUE LAKE, Ca (KIEM) – Motorists are going to have to watch how fast they’re going on Greenwood Road in Blue Lake because the speed limit is now reduced and radar signs are installed.

The speed limit went from 25 miles per hour down to 15. Also, there is a speed radar sign to tell you how fast you’re going on Greenwood Road.

The City approved this change so everyone can slow down and watch out for kids going to school. The Superintendent at Blue Lake Union Elementary School is happy that the signs are up right before class is back in session.

“We’re on the corner of two busy streets. We want to make sure that our kiddos are safe when they do things like community outreach, and they walk down [Greenwood Road]. They like to see what’s going on at the City, [and] at the Community Resource Center, or walking to Prasch Hall. And if they’re walking down this road, and people are going too fast, it puts our children in danger,” said DeAnn Waldvogel, Superintendent at Blue Lake Union Elementary School.

The first day of school at Blue Lake Union Elementary is on Monday.
