One Person Injured in Four Car Collision Involving Two Semi Trucks

WILLITS, Ca. (KIEM) – A 57-year-old, Willits man is injured in a four car collision in Mendocino County.

On Monday, Nov. 4 around 8 a.m., Richard Bailey was driving his Nissan Sedan southbound on the 101 when he brought his car to a stop due to a traffic hazard on the road about two miles north of Willits, Ca.

John Bullwinkel, driving a 2008 Peterbilt truck-tractor he Bailey pulled the vehicle over and came to a complete stop partially in the northbound lane.

At that point, Robert McAdams, who was driving a Chrysler van in the northbound lane with two passengers tried to veer away from the stopped vehicles.

At that time, Justin Coggins was driving a 2019 Peterbilt around a curve traveling south and was unable to stop he vehicle before colliding with the ’08 Peterbilt.

The crash caused the ’08 Peterbilt to collide into the Nissan Sedan and the 2019 Peterbilt crashed into the left side of the Chrysler van. The tractor-truck continued into a steep embankment east of the 101.

One of the Passengers from the van was transported to a local hospital with a possible broken wist.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor.

The Collision is still under investigation.
