Fortuna Middle School Student Honored With Award

Fortuna, Ca. (KIEM)– A Fortuna Middle School student is awarded for a remarkable essay.

Dayanara Herrera-Mendez received the Suddenlink Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Award and fifteen hundred dollars.

Out of 26 states, Herrera-Mendez was the top winner.

The award was presented by a local Suddenlink represerntative.

Community members showered Mendez with support during the ceremony.
