Humboldt Bay Fire Battles Vegetation Fire

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Humboldt Bay Fire battles a small yet impressive vegetation fire Monday evening along the Waterfront Trail.

Crews answered the call around 8 Monday evening just behind the Bayshore mall.

Flames reached roughly 20 feet in the air at times as 10-foot reeds lit up the area sky.

However, firefighters were able to quickly put the blaze out in only 20 minutes. The fire was confined to just a small area – roughly 100 feet by 30 feet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but crews tell Redwood News they believe the fire was deliberately started with an accelerant.
