Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay Holds Virtual Change-of-Command Ceremony

MCKINLEYVILLE, Ca. (KIEM) – Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay held a virtual change-of-command ceremony Thursday.

Captain Mark Hiigel relieved Captain Gregory Fuller as the coast guard sector Humboldt Bay commander.

As sector commander, Hiigel will oversee coast guard operations for 250 miles of coastline from the Mendocino-Sonoma county line north to the California-Oregon border

Prior to the change of command, Hiigel was the 1st coast guard district’s Chief of Incident Management in Boston.

This ceremony is a time-honored tradition, which formally re-states that the continuity of command will be maintained.
