Construction begins Monday at “Last Chance Grade Area” in Del Norte County

DEL NORTE COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM)-Motorist traveling along the “Last Chance Grade Area” in Del Norte County may want to plan an alternative route beginning Monday.

Full closures will take effect on route 101 overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the week.

Construction in the “Last Chance Grade Area” will continue during the day with slowdowns.

Motorist should anticipate 10 minute delays due to one-way traffic control, which allows one lane to be closed as traffic is ushered through the open lane.

Also, beginning Monday, the Collier rest area along route 199 will be completely closed for sewer work.

Caltrans is advising travelers use an alternate rest area.
