Yurok Tribal Members Rally Together, Protest Workplace Violence

Klamath, Ca. (KIEM) — Up in Klamath, community members are rallying together to fight against workplace violence. They are also coming together against the controversial rehire of Javier Kinney.

Friday, 3 groups representing the entire geographic area of the Yurok Tribe walked to the Klamath Tribal Offices, some coming from more than 20 miles away, to demand the tribe ends the cycle of violence in the workplace.

A rally was held at 2:30 by the group End Cycle of Violence and featured people sharing their stories and asking for policy changes. One tribal member, Annelia Hillman, has been participating in a fast of prayer and resistance since May 22nd.  It’s her way of calling for accountability from the tribal council.
