Young cyclist struck by large van

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – A young cyclist was struck by a large van this afternoon in Eureka.

Just after 4 p.m., Eureka Police responded to 7th and Myrtle streets.

According to EPD, a group of juveniles was riding northbound on Myrtle when one of them possibly veered in front of the vehicle.

The juvenile was treated by medical personnel on scene, and later taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Right now, the extent of the juvenile’s injuries is unknown. The driver of the van was uninjured.
