CHP responds to lumber truck accident on Highway 101

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — California Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving a logging truck early this morning.

Just before 6:30 am, a semi-truck towing a flat deck trailer loaded with cut lumber was traveling southbound on Highway 101 south of the Redwood off-ramp. The trailer somehow came unhitched from the tractor and appeared to have lost a rear axle or two leaving the trailer unmovable.

Two of the 3 lanes were closed while crews cleared the scene. According to CHP, all lanes have since been reopened.
