CR receives a grant to help students pay for their tuition

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- College of the Redwoods has received a grant that will give additional financial aid to students to help pay for their tuition.

The grant is in the amount of $128,000 and was given to CR by the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

The money will be distributed to students who have attended CR in the fall of 2020 and will attend again in the spring of 2021.

To qualify, the student has to have over $8,000 in unmet expenses after their financial aid and any family or work contributions has been applied.   

“We have 1,110 students that have $6,000 or more of unmet financial aid need,” said Marty Coelho, the Executive Director for the CR foundation. “So, we will be awarding $375 to 325 students who have their greatest financial aid need.” 

The CR foundation is also working on an application for a second round of grant funding which will go towards scholarship funds.
