Let Them Play rally in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – After a successful turnout in Ferndale, organizers held another Let Them Play rally in Eureka.

On Friday, community members gathered to show support for the #LetThemPlayCA movement. Their goal is to show government and health officials that youth sports can take place safely.

The rally was held in front of the offices of Assembly Member Jim Wood and Senator Mike McGuire on 5th Street in Eureka. Various participants made speeches, showing support for high school students who are unable to take part in athletics due to strict state COVID-19 guidelines. The rally was one of 16 taking place across California at the same time.

Parents started the organization to voice concerns regarding the current state of high school athletics. Supporters believe that competition can take place safely amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
