The investigation found HCSO and the Department of Health and Human Services Child Welfare Services did not fully comply with the State’s child abuse and neglect reporting act. Over the last 3 years, the County was required to implement new measures to ensure every report of child abuse or neglect is investigated in a timely manner by one or both agencies. In a press release, Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal made a brief statement.
