12 new Covid-19 cases, 43 more recoveries reported in Humboldt County Wednesday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Public Health Department has reported 12 new cases of Covid-19 Wednesday. A previously reported case was from out of the county, so the total case count is now 3,036. Health officials are monitoring 116 active cases.

Two new hospitalizations were also reported. There are 13 people currently in the hospital, and two are in the ICU. There were also 43 more recoveries reported bringing that total number to 2,888.

“If we look at our case count per 100,000 it was as high as 26 back a month ago, and now it’s down to under 10. It’s really come a long ways, and that’s really what we pay attention to, that average case per 100,000 that gives us a sense of the day to day,” County Health Officer Dr. Ian Hoffman says.

As of Monday, the County has administered 25,923 vaccine doses. Next week’s shipment has been delayed due to winter storms. Providers are reaching out to those affected by the delay.
