The Boise fire almost doubled in size overnight, and the evacuation orders in place in Humboldt and Siskiyou counties have been expanded.  Four zones in Humboldt county are under evacuation orders along with one zone in Siskiyou county, which means: “leave now”.  Five more zones in Humboldt county and five in Siskiyou are currently under evacuation warnings, which means: “be prepared to leave.”

“Here in the poison creek drainage, red cap drainage, and over here in the Granite Creek drainage, the fire has progressed,” said Shawn Burt, Operations Section Chief for Incident Management Team 10, which is handling the Boise Fire alongside many other agencies. “It hit the ridge line up on Orleans Lookout Road, and it still continues to progress to the east.  (We’re) setting up a direct fire lines and providing structure protection for the town of Orleans and communities of Perch. We have been successful at holding the line so far, bringing it down.  And if any threat was to come to any of the communities, we would pull all of our engines off and send them down there because that is number one priority is the communities.”

The Boise Fire is zero percent contained and as of Wednesday afternoon, has burned over 8600 acres.

Zones HUM-E009-A, HUM-E009-B, HUM-E025-A & HUM-E025-B are under evacuation orders in Humboldt county. SIS-1802 is under an evacuation order in Siskiyou county.
