Del Norte Street gas leak to cause temporary closure

Del Norte Street between L and P street in Eureka will be closed throughout the night. 

Humboldt Bay fire reports a construction company accidentally struck a gas line near the Eureka High School Football field today.

Eureka City Schools began construction on the football field in May, because of a sinkhole underneath it. 

They say storm drain damage is the culprit. Todays incident caused a gas leak, but that leak has been capped off at this hour. 

According to Humboldt Bay Fire there is no threat to the public.
