Gearing up for labor day, we went and talked to some people to see what they had planned for the holiday weekend.

Lindsay Wilson, a Redding resident, spoke to Redwood News about his plans in Humboldt County.

“I plan on traveling over to Eureka, California. I come from out of Redding, locally, out of Hat Creek, California,” Wilson said. “ We’re going to come over, check out the beach area and the water and whatnot.”

Wilson’s plans involved seeing loved ones in the area.

“I’ve got some family that came over and gave us some salmon, so we got some jarred up salmon today,” he said. “And now we’re just going to have a blast through the weekend for sure. mainly spend time with family for sure and get all the sights and sounds.”

Some folks choose a staycation. Laura Lopez, a Humboldt local, said that the local attractions were enough to keep her in the area.

“I’m sticking around here, in Arcata,” she said. “Hopefully going to the farmer’s market.”

With summer coming to a close, she plans on savoring the final days of the season.

“going out to the river of course. Enjoying that and just getting as many river dips as possible, getting out to the beach,” Lopez said.
