Man pinned under machinery sustains major injuries

FRESHWATER (KIEM)-A man sustained major injuries in a logging accident near Freshwater. A neighbor called 911 after hearing the incident and the victim yelling for help.

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to the 700 block of Redmond Road just after 4 pm Wednesday. Officials say a man operating a Bobcat was ejected and the excavator rolled several times before coming to a stop and pinning the man.

The man was freed from the machinery and transported to St. Joseph Hospital with leg and facial injuries.

Along with Humboldt Bay Fire, the Sheriff’s office, CHP and City Ambulance all responded to the scene.
