Dean Lotter Takes on New Role as Eureka City Manager

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — It’s official, the City of Eureka has a new city manager, Dean Lotter.

Redwood News sat down with Lotter to discuss his new role, his experience in Eureka so far, and what he hopes to accomplish during his time.

Dean Lotter is settling into his new role as city manager. He took the oath of office on Tuesday in front of the city council and his wife Wendy. He has enjoyed how welcoming everyone has been so far.

Lotter comes to Eureka with 23 years of experience as a city manager in New Brighton, Minnesota. He has been working in city government since he was 26 and believes he has what it takes to do the job well.

He knows he will face some challenges during his time here, including issues like the city budget, infrastructure, and homelessness. Looking forward, he hopes to tackle things like economic development here in Eureka, how he can do his part to help the city take advantage of the opportunities available.

He may just be getting starting, but he’s excited to be here in Eureka. Lotter, his wife, and their dog Queso plan to make Humboldt County home and hope to be here for a while.
