Southern Humboldt murder suspect arrested after evading authorities for nine months

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – A murder suspect on the run for nine months is in custody.

Zachary Harrison was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Eureka.

Harrison was wanted for the September 2017 murder of 58-year old Robert Holtsclaw in Alderpoint.

Eureka police got a tip at about 1:15 in the afternoon, that a man matching Harrison’s description was seen near Truesdale Street, walking through the back parking lot of Bayshore Mall.

As police responded, Harrison was arrested without incident.

Harrison is in jail with a $1-million dollar bond.

He had eluded authorities several times, and officers with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office believe someone may have helped him elude capture.
