MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. (KIEM) – From Samantha Karges of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
Around 10:30 a.m. a deputy on patrol in the McKinleyville area observed a vehicle with expired registration and non-functioning brake lights. The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Central Ave. The vehicle fled through the McKinleyville Shopping Center parking lot and residential neighborhoods, running several stop signs in the process. The pursuit was terminated due to the safety of other motorists on the roadway. However, deputies were able to quickly locate the vehicle parked on Ocean Dr. The driver fled from the vehicle into the wooded area south of Hiller Park. We were unable to locate the suspect in the wooded area. The suspect is described as white male adult in his 40s, approximately 6 ft tall and approximately 180 pounds, with a full beard and wearing a hat.
Of course, anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office.
