Humboldt Bay boater strikes shoreline in heavy fog

HUMBOLDT BAY, Calif. (KIEM) – A Humboldt Bay boater is unstuck thanks to the help of marine deputies.

Thursday night, deputies received a call that the boater was entering the North Jetty at full speed.

What the boater didn’t realize, because of thick fog, was they were actually on the south side.

They then struck the shore. Luckily, the boater wasn’t harmed.

When conditions improved Friday morning, marine deputies used the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office sno-cat to recover the vessel from the beach.
