Firefighters reach 60% containment of 312,447 acre Mendocino Complex Fire

MENDOCNIO COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The massive Mendocino Complex Fire is 60% contained as of Friday night.

The wildfire is the largest our state has ever seen, at 312,447 acres as of Friday.

However, it continues to put homes at risk. Cal Fire estimates more 1,500 homes still lie in danger.

Two firefighters have been injured fighting the flames, and more than 3,500 fire personnel remain active in defeating the complex on Friday night.

Full containment is expected by September 1.
