Humboldt Bay Fire investigating cause of ‘suspicious’ structure fire

HUMBOLDT HILL – A vacant Humboldt Hill home is destroyed by fire.

It happened at around 11 last night at a residence on the 6300 block of Loma Avenue. Flames were visible from Highway 101. It took Humboldt Bay Fire firefighters two hours to bring the blaze under control. Arcata Fire also responded to the scene.

The quick action by crews prevented the fire from spreading to other structures. There were no injuries.

The home, valued at $600,000 was a total loss. With no one living in the residence at the time, the cause is suspicious.

Humboldt Bay Fire tells us it could take at least two days to determine the cause of the fire.
