Artist makes sculpture out of metal for Eureka Art Festival

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The Eureka Art Festival continues, Saturday.

Opera Alley between C and D Street were flooded with artist and on lookers. One artist stood out as he built his metal crab not for the sea but for the sky.

“We created an intergalactic space crab it took a lot of different things to really all come together. I was watching a movie and this giant crab goes across this desert floor and you can just hear it popping and I thought to myself. I want it to make a lot of noise that’s going to draw a lot of attention so we came up with the idea. My buddy and I spent a little over two months on it,” said Dan McCauley of Dan’s Custom Metals.

McCauley says his creation is made up of all recyclable materials. The Eureka Street Art Festival’s mission is to create intentional, accessible art that enlivens public spaces, stimulates community revitalization, and attracts visitors to Eureka.
