Council looks to cannabis to boost local economy

Eureka., Ca (KIEM)- The City of Eureka has some big plans to attract commercial business and use the cannabis industry to improve the economy. For months now the city of eureka has pushed for cannabis permits. They say going through the process of earning permits

For cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail will give those in the business security and lower the amount of black market jobs. Through licensing fees the city has collected $197,000 dollars and when talking to council member Austin Allison, he says we need to look at the potential of a growing industry.

The city expects to see local contractors gain from the industry as well. From the development services report, one building.
