Arcata Firefighters honored for work on Mendocino Complex

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM)- Over a period of just three weeks, the Arcata Fire District sent nine career fire fighters, four volunteer firefighters, one battalion chief, and three pieces of equipment to help battle the Mendocino Complex Wildfires. Teams were also sent to cover the Mendocino Cal Fire station.

At their regular board meeting, the Arcata Fire District Board of Directors passed a resolution to commend AFD personnel for outstanding response and mutual aid. The resolution, the board hopes, will begin to demonstrate their profound gratitude for the team’s work.

“Several firefighters were gone for weeks, which can put a strain on family life. It’s important not to forget the families of our responders,” stated Board President, Rene Campbell.
