One man killed in two-vehicle crash on Highway 199

CRESCENT CITY, Ca. (KIEM) – Crescent City California Highway Patrol responds to a fatal traffic incident on Monday.

CHP tells Redwood News that at about 2:30PM, a man, 56-year-old Mark Glatzfelder, and a woman, 50-year-old Barbara Raz, both from Selzach, Switzerland, were traveling south on Highway 199, just north of Little Jones Creek Road.

At that time, another male driver, headed north, crossed the double lines for reasons unknown, resulting in a head-on collision.

That male suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead on scene.

Caltrans, Gasquet Fire Department, Cal Fire, the Forest Service, and Redwood National Parks personnel assisted.

The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with more information should contact Crescent City area California Highway Patrol.
