HSU fans react to the end of their football program

ARCATA, CA. (KIEM)-For fans of Humboldt State football. Celebrating this season can be difficult, because at the end of the year the program will cease to exist. That has most fans dreading the final play.

At today’s tailgate party students and families prepared for the game as usual –eating food, playing corn hole and sometimes throwing a football.

Redwood news talks to fans who’ve cheered for over 50-years. They say it’s hard to get excited about the closing of a legacy they say benefits the community in more ways than one. A family from Ventura, Ca says “It will hurt the economy, because families who travel to support the team will not continue spending money and shops and food or hotel rooms.
