Community members work to raise awareness about suicide

ARCATA – The Arcata Plaza was full Sunday morning of people bringing awareness to suicide prevention.

The Out of the Darkness walk was put together by community members who want to raise awareness around suicide prevention and want to address the issue. One of the walk organizers, Johnny Salazar, says they’ve received a lot of support from the community as well as businesses who have helped sponsor the event.

The event had a remembrance wall where the 200-300 people who came out on Sunday could hang photos and notes of loved ones they’ve lost to suicide.
