Flat Fire Update: 300 acre wildfire in Trinity County

Trinity County, Ca., (KIEM)- Just after 5:00 p.m. Thursday night a fire broke out near Douglas City and the junction of Blanchards Flat and Reading Creek Roads. Still 0% contained, the ‘Flat Fire’ is now more than 300 acres in size.

No injuries are reported and no structures have been damaged. At last county, 934 people where fighting back the flames.

Describing the current situation Cal Fire says, “The fire is burning in extremely steep, difficult terrain, which is a challenge for firefighters to access. Helicopters and air tankers made an aggressive aerial attack yesterday and will be utilized again today as
firefighters work on access and increasing and reinforcing containment lines.”
