They say the first thing to do is to file a lost animal report with staff at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter, you can give the animal shelter a call at (707) 840-9132.

Also, you should file a report with your local animal control, which is city specific.

The shelter says they took in multiple dogs overnight.

They also recommend that if you’ve lost your cat, to put out a litter box or something familiar that they can recognize to come home to.
