Scholarships available for women re-entry students at Humboldt State University

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Each year the local Branch of the American Association of University Women provides scholarships ranging from $250-$1500 to very worthy HSU women re-entry students.

The re-entry qualification means a student is returning or has already returned to college/university–in this case, H.S.U–after a minimum 5-year absence from any accredited college or university and is enrolled full-time. (The definition of full-time varies between under- and graduate levels.)

Other requirements are that she be a resident of Humboldt, Del Norte or Trinity County, have a GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 3.0, and demonstrate financial need.

Applications, with letters of recommendation and a personal statement are due Oct. 31, submitted online or by USPS.  Interviews are held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at which time a current transcript is to be provided. The awards are made at the Annual Holiday Gala, this year on Dec.1 (the event that raises funds for next year’s scholarships). Recipients are the honored guests.
