EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – ‘One Community’ is a new initiative aiming to bring locals together, and held their first inter-agency event during Arts Alive in Eureka on Saturday.

26 agencies were represented on F street in Old Town, with a variety of purposes, some involving homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse, and more.

However, on Saturday, there was a moment of intensity during the event, as anti-HACHR protesters, who were circling the event with a loud-speaker, were blocked by a One Community advocate. No one was hurt, but anger was exchanged – and there was an evident pivot, in what was meant to be a community bonding experience.
