Missing Southern Humboldt man found safe

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT (KIEM)- A missing southern Humboldt man has been found safe.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office tells us Keith Smith was located Friday. The 53 year-old man went missing Thursday while cutting firewood in the Dutyville area.

Smith’s utility vehicle at around 6:30 Friday morning and he was located later in the day.

Smith told deputies he fell in a creek and lost consciousness. He then made his way to a house and notified law enforcement.

The sheriff’s search and rescue posse also helped in the search.
